Shiatsu is a gentle form of hands-on therapy. It is based in Traditional Chinese Medicine & uses the same pressure points & Meridians (lines of energy) as Acupucture. It uses the 5 Element diagnosis system, an Eastern, holistic form of understanding the body, mind & spirit.
Shiatsu also uses touch as a form of diagnosis, the practioner follows what they feel, or what they pick up, as they move around the body. Shiatsu is always tailored to that client, on that day, so every treatment is different. It can be a quiet & holding treatment &, when appropriate, it can be a more physical & energetic treatment.
Because of its approach Shiatsu is a very supportive therapy & can help with well-being & energy levels. It meets the client how & where they want to be met, it can meet them on a physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual level. Shiatsu works to balance the energy in the body, when there is balance there can be relief from symptoms & a sense of wellness.
I am offering tasters at an event on Sunday – a good opportunity to try this relaxing yet energising therapy out. The event is in Broadclyst, near Exeter, from 10.30 till 4.30. More details can be found on my Facebook page.
Valentine’s Day is nearly on us. I am offering 10% off gift vouchers purchased before the 14th February, for a Valentine. These vouchers can be used for Shiatsu or Natural Face Lift Massage. Both these treatments are deeply relaxing, nurturing & supportive. They can help with energy levels & release tension & stress. So I reckon they are a perfect Valentine’s present.
I can send vouchers out electronically so still plenty of time to get them arranged. Do get in touch through the ‘contact me’ page to arrange.
If you are interested in finding out more about Shiatsu then have a look at the pages on here. I have a Facebook page where I post details of events & offers. You may also want to check out the Shiatsu Society website for more information on Shiatsu.
I use Shiatsu on myself, my husband & children regularly. Not just for relaxation, although it’s great for that. My boys are noisy, energetic & enthusiastic so sometimes it is hard for them to settle at the end of the day. It is a pleasure to give them a Shiatsu & watch them visibly calm down, breathe more deeply & slow down. They often talk to me after a Shiatsu, or we play quietly together. They also sleep well.
I use Shiatsu on myself to help when my mind is racing, I can slow myself down & think more clearly. I use it to help with digestion & menstruation. I have always suffered with painful periods & uncomfortable digestion, I can manage both a lot better with Shiatsu. I also use Shiatsu to support my motivation & mood. I have in the past become stagnant & stuck in a rut but now I cam more adaptable & flexible & can make changes with more ease.
Obviously I am a fan of Shiatsu, I studied it for 3 years, alongside full-time work. I can also pass on tricks & tips that I have learnt to help other people support their health & the health of their family. I often give recommendations at the end of a session, lifestyle & diet options. I also offer ideas of stretches or exercises that may help support their condition, complaint or their well-being.
I can offer longer Shiatsu appointments, at my home practice in Exeter. These can include a full Shiatsu treatment plus guidance on ways to support you & your loved ones.
I’m off to stretch now, to help my circulation & to aid my sleep tonight. xx
Excited to be attending my first event of the year in just a couple of weeks time. I’ll be offering Shiatsu taster sessions at the East Devon Mind, Body, Spirit event on Sunday February 18th. The event is going to be held in Broadclyst, at the Victory Hall. The venue is near for Exeter folks & there is plenty of free parking.
If you have been reading my blog & wondering what Shiatsu is then a taster is a great way to find out what this hands-on therapy involves. The tasters will only be £10 but 20 minutes long, plenty of time to get an idea of Shiatsu.
The Shiatsu tasters will be given on a massage chair, that supports your whole body, its relaxing & comfortable. Normally Shiatsu is given on a futon mat on the floor but can be given on a couch or on a massage chair. Shiatsu is always given through clothes.
Do come & say hello if you are in the area on the 18th. If you are struggling to feel energized in this cold, wet weather then come & get a boost of energy with a Shiatsu taster.
Information about the event and the full list of exhibitors can be seen here
So very excited to receive a large parcel in the post today.
I was pretty upset when my trusty, but bottom of the range, massage chair broke just before Christmas. I was in the middle of a session of Shiatsus for the hard working staff at my son’s school. I had to give some of the Shiatsus to people whilst they sat on a normal chair. Hardly relaxing, having to support yourself, rather than leaning into a comfy chair.
Since the breakage I have been searching for a replacement. I was close to purchasing a replacement of similar quality to my original when I stumbled across a hardly used, top of the range chair.
I am super happy & have tried it out on my family already. It’s really comfy & easily adjusts to fit any shape or size of client.
So watch out for upcoming events as I will now be giving Shiatsu on this beauty of a chair.
My next event is in Broadclyst, near Exeter – details can be found here

If you’ve not had a Shiatsu massage before, or you would like to see how I practice it you may want to try a taster. I do quite a lot of events & you may want to like my Facebook page so that you can be kept informed.
I have an event in February, in Broadclyst, very near to Exeter in Devon. Details of the event can be found here
You may also like to look at the pages on this site, which give details about my practices in Exeter & Dawlish & what a Shiatsu treatment involves.
I’m always happy to discuss Shiatsu so you can get in touch through the ‘contact me’ page.
So Shiatsu massages are, from now on, in the ‘Shiatsu Shed’ in my back garden. It’s a beautiful wooden cabin & perfect for rest & relaxation.
I am in Dawlish every other week & these treatments will be taking place in The Studio, which is a tranquil & peaceful space with a stream right outside, providing the perfect background music.
I have various other plans in the pipeline – events coming up from next month, offering Shiatsu in other towns in Devon, working in businesses, offer Natural Face Lift massage in salons in Exeter – ok maybe not all of them will come off but exciting opportunities around.
I now work Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays & some Saturday mornings. I can also offer evening appointments. I’m always happy to discuss Shiatsu so do get in touch through the ‘contact me’ page.
I woke in the early hours of this morning with a start. For a long time Christmas had taken up all my brain power & now suddenly, in the middle of the night, I’d switched to thinking about the new year. Ideas spinning in my head about what I’d like to acheive in 2018, for myself & my family.
The new year is a good opportunity to focus on the things that are important to us & on what we would like to acheive. It is not always easy to organise our thoughts, or to keep our initial focus & drive up. Our energy is often lower in the colder winter months & this can stop us keeping our goals in sight.
Shiatsu massage sees symptoms like clarity of thought, lack of energy, inability to follow through with ideas, dis-organisation & tiredness as energetic imbalances. Shiatsu looks to balance the energies in the body & this can ease symptoms such as the above.
Shiatsu massage is:
- A quiet, supportive space
- A good energy boost
- Helpful for encouraging deeper sleep
Clients have mentioned:
- A sense of focus & determination after a treatment
- An ability to acheive things with ease
I believe Shiatsu is the perfect support for clients looking to make changes in their lives. To help clients keep focus, drive & momentum. Shiatsu can help support stress & anxiety, which can hold us up.
How do I feel today? Excited about the new year, determined to push through with my personal goals (although already a little apprehensive about keeping them up.) Yes I know better book myself a Shiatsu! I love giving Shiatsu so hoping there’s a lot of that in 2018.
I offer Shiatsu in Exeter & Dawlish. I practice Shiatsu in a wooden cabin in the garden of our home in Exwick, Exeter, the natural wood is perfect for this form of therapy. I work in the lovely Changes Now in Dawlish. Both places are easy to get to by car, bus or train.
Wishing you all a positive, happy & productive 2018. May your dreams be bright & beautiful & come true with splendour.
Shiatsu gift vouchers are available for any denomination or for the full treatment amount.
They are the perfect present for someone who is over-stretched or tired, or needs pampering or is dealing with discomfort or pain. Or they are a great present to put on your own Christmas list!
Get in touch to arrange – details on the ‘contact me’ page. I can post them out or send them electronically.
