I’ve noticed from my clients that the cold weather is showing up all their aches & pains & areas of weakness.
Whilst working on people I have noticed less energy in general in people.
It’s understandable in this cold weather. We should be hibernating really, conserving our energy. There is such a demand on us & it becomes difficult to find space to rest & recuperate.
This cold winter weather relates to the Water elements. This is within 5 Element diagnosis, part of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The meridians in this element are very important. They hold our core energy. If they are over-used they are unable to feed the other energies in out body.
What can we do to support this energy in this cold weather?
- Rest as much as possible
- Meditate or sit still & quiet
- Get to bed as early as you can
- Wrap up warm – including neck & around the abdomen area
- Eat watery broths, fish & sea vegetables
Also obviously Shiatsu can really help a lot. It can create more resource in the body, in can relieve pain & symptoms & support mental strain.
I have a few spaces left before Christmas, both in Exeter & Dawlish.
Shiatsu is a relaxing but energising treatment. It is a hands on therapy given through clothes & on a futon mat on the floor. Although it can be given on a chair or couch if it maybe difficult to get down or back up from the floor.
Shiatsu is an all over body treatment, it can be focused specially on one area of the body. Similarly the whole body can be treated from one area. Each treatment is specially tailored to that person on that day. Every Shiatsu is different.Shiatsu massage uses the same points & meridians, lines of energy, that acupuncture uses. Shiatsu looks to balance the energy in body. This balance can ease pain, symptoms & provide support.
Clients have mentioned that they feel more energy after a treatment, that they feel more focussed & have more drive, that they have had relief from symptoms, that they have slept better, needed the loo less, had better joint flexibility.Shiatsu is a safe & secure environment & is totally confidential. It can help support emotional distress, stress, anxiety & depression. I have clients who have come with work related stress & also people who are going through big changes in their personal lives.I work in Exwick, Exeter & Dawlish & I’m also happy to discuss Shiatsu so do get in touch with any questions, through the ‘contact me’page.
Shiatsu gift vouchers are available for any denomination or for the full treatment amount.
They are the perfect present for someone who is over-stretched or tired, or needs pampering or is dealing with discomfort or pain. Or they are a great present to put on your own Christmas list!
Get in touch to arrange – details on the ‘contact me’ page. I can post them out or send them electronically.
I spent the whole day at a lovely fair in Budleigh Salterton giving tasters of Shiatsu massage today.
Tasters are the perfect way to give people an idea of what a Shiatsu involves, particularly as it’s a very affordable way to get some massage.
Shiatsu is a powerful form of therapy & can have quite an effect in a short period of time.
I really believe in Shiatsu, enough to complete the 3 years of training, so I love letting new people know about it.
There were some great comments from people who had tasters, they felt relaxed but with more energy, their tension had eased dramatically, their pain had eased, they thought it was quite an amazing taster.
A day like this is worth the hassle of trying to get out of the house, endless final kisses for the kids, lunches for everyone ready, everything I need for the day crammed in the car, only having to come back to get one thing I’d forgotten!
I felt so energised from the day that I whizzed through my chores when I got home & had plenty of energy to spend some fun time with my boys.
I hope that the people I treated all went home with the energy to achieve whatever they wanted/ needed to do. Got to love Shiatsu.
Although some days are warmer than normally at this time of year we are, in general, starting to get colder days & nights. The colder weather starts to show up any aches & pains in joints.
Pain is a difficult to live with & I have a huge amount of respect for the many clients I have met with chronic pain.
Shiatsu has helped support clients with pain. Clients have commented that they feel supported with the intense mental strain & stress if their pain. The have commented that they have had relief from their pain. They have also mentioned more flexibility in their joints, less inflammation & less pain.
Shiatsu works to balance the energies in the body. When the body is in balance there is better flow. Then the energy flows through the joints, which can ease pain.
Shiatsu has a whole number of techniques that can be used to work on a problem. Joints can be worked on directly, including rotations & stretches. If this isn’t appropriate the issue can be worked on distally, from another area of the body. Also gentle work can be as effective as more physical techniques.
I am always happy to discuss Shiatsu so do get in touch if you’d think it may be able to support you. Details on the ‘contact me’ page.
So this month started with a great Shiatsu event – a colleague & myself gave lots of Shiatsu massage tasters at the Exeter Green Fair on Saturday. It’s always an interesting event, with lots of thought provoking stalls, & is set up right on the cathedral green in Exeter city centre.
The following day I was supposed to be giving Shiatsu at the St. Thomas Festival, also in Exeter. The weather was ridiculously English, with heavy rain, wind & low temperatures all day. It was not a day that anyone would hang around for a massage so I chose not to attend. Sad as I have attended a lot of years of this great community event.
These two events signify the end of the Summer & the beginning of the Autumn for me. We are on full back to school mode in this house & I’m starting to focus on work a bit more again. It’s hard to multi-task work & the school holidays & I am looking forward to some time to focus specifically on work.
I am also excited as my youngest son will go to pre-school more & I will be offering more availability – Tuesday afternoons to begin with & in time Friday morning’s. I will still offer Wednesday appointments including early evening appointments.
The new found focus has also affected my husband & I’s drive to get the ‘Shiatsu Shed’ finished & I hope that I will be offering Shiatsu in the solid wood cabin in our garden in the next month – watch this space.
I am always happy to talk Shiatsu so do get in touch through the ‘contact me’ page or call me on 07791 070837
10-4 today my Shiatsu colleagues & I will be offering tasters at the Exeter Green Fair.
Come & find us amongst all the great stalls, on Exeter Cathedral Green.
Two events this weekend – in Exeter – where you can get a taste of what Shiatsu massage involves – for a small payment.
Saturday we will be at the Exeter Green Fair – more details here
Sunday we will be at the St. Thomas Festival – more details here
Come and try out a Shiatsu massage – if you’ve not had one before or if you want to see how I give Shiatsu (every practitioner differs a bit.) Or just come & say hello.
Shiatsu massage can be helpful on many different levels, emotional, mental, spiritual & physical. I have found that it has given clients relief from issues with joints, particularly with hips. Shiatsu can be quite physically manipulative, which can work well for hip joints, as they are so large. Ir can also be very gentle when required & still have good results.
Shiatsu massage has been able to give relief from Sciatica to some of my clients. It has helped with tight hips & stiffness. It has become clear with some clients that they hold emotional tension in their pelvic area & this has released for them.
Please get in touch, through the ‘contact me’ page, if you have any questions or if you would like to discuss if Shiatsu maybe able to help you.
I offer Shiatsu in the daytime on Wednesdays & also on Wednesday evenings. I also work on Saturdays. I appreciate that generally daytime is work time for most people & as I only offer one evening in the week I also offer Shiatsu massage on Saturdays. So after a hard week of work you can have a relaxing & energising Shiatsu, to re-charge ready to make the most of your weekend. At present I offer Shiatsu on Saturdays only in Exeter.
I hope that soon I will be able to offer Shiatsu at other times in the week, so watch this space.
If you are interested in booking a Shiatsu massage or you have any question please do get in touch, through the ‘contact me’ page.
